Lyman James: Weekdays 10am-2pm
As a dedicated radio veteran for over 47 years with deep roots in the Wichita community, Lyman brings a wealth of experience and passion to his undeniable on-air presence.
A native of Spencer, Indiana, Lyman attended Sterling College in Sterling Kansas where he majored in Business. He would later receive a Young Alumni Award in 1990 and, as part of the schools’ Centennial Celebration in 1988, was honored as one of the Sterling 100, one hundred alumni from the schools’ first century whose lives have made a difference to their families, churches and communities. While at Sterling, Lyman sought funding and built campus radio station KJSC, followed by his first full-time on-air position with KSKU in nearby Hutchinson.
Career stops have included Topeka, Kansas City, and Wichita stations KFDI, KTLI Light 99, B98FM and KKRD, where he first worked for Jack Oliver and was given the nick-name "Rhymin' Lyman" by Don Hall.
Lyman and his wife Zoe have spent many years in station ownership and management, starting with their purchase of radio stations in Winfield in 1995, and the formation of Sterling Broadcasting in 2010 for the acquisition of a pair of stations in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Lyman & Zoe have 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren and proudly proclaim themselves a soccer family – a love affair that started with the Wichita Wings at the Kansas Coliseum many years ago.
